Michigan Native Joseph Cada is in WSOP Main Event Finals

Few 21 year-olds have any idea what a million dollars looks like. But Joseph Cada will definitely get to find out what a million dollars looks like since the 21 year-old is guaranteed at least $1.2 million in the World Series of Poker Main Event. The Macomb County native guaranteed himself this amount after making his way through 6,494 entrants to the nine person final table.

Now Cada has a chance to win the $8,546,435 prize that goes to the first place finisher. But he’ll definitely have some tough competition from the rest of the November Nine in reaching this goal.

No Easy Task

Like the other members of the November Nine, Joseph Cada definitely has his eyes on the $8.55 million. However, Cada has a long climb ahead of him if he hopes to reach the top since he is sitting in fifth place with 13,215,000 chips. And the 13.2 million chips he is holding are a far cry from the leader Darvin Moon who has 58,930,000 chips.

Plus there will be plenty of competition from noted professional poker players such as Phil Ivey and Jeff Shulman. Ivey is sitting in seventh place with 9,765,000 chips, and is regarded by many to be the best all-around poker player in the world. Ivey has also already won 3 preliminary WSOP events in 2009 as well. Shulman has won a WSOP event in his career and is a very accomplished live tournament player too. But Cada shouldn’t be too intimidated since he has plenty of poker experience himself.

Cada’s Road to Poker

Like many college graduates, Joseph Cada chose to attend college upon graduating from Utica High School in 2006. However, after two semesters worth of business and accounting classes at Macomb Community College, Cada found that college wasn’t really his thing. It didn’t help matters that he was frequently playing poker at Casino Windsor, and had already experienced tournament success in Aruba and the Bahamas.

With all of the money that Joseph Cada was making with poker, he soon decided to pursue it full-time. And this decision has already paid off big-time since Cada has earned over a half million dollars through 11 WSOP cashes alone. And that’s not even counting the money he’s made in casinos and online poker over the past few years.

Now as the youngest member of the November Nine and the lone Michigan representative on the table, Cada has every poker website and online poker blog talking about him. It will definitely be interesting to see if he can live up to the hype and become a multi-millionaire in the process. Before long they’ll even be talking about him at PartyPoker.com and many other online gaming sites.
